Subject: Out of Adoption Textbooks
Chuck,
Since the new selections have been put on EMAT and
the old adoptions are now dropped off, can districts start
sending out the out-of-adoption textbooks to the charitable
organizations?
I have enough out-of-adoption textbooks in my warehouse
for at least one shipment right now.
I plan to collect the bulk of our out-of-adoption
textbooks in June but I need the warehouse space now. I am
starting to get in my orders for next school year.
ANSWER
Yes; districts may start sending out
the out-of-adoption textbooks to charitable organizations.
However, please make sure that you retain enough materials
to meet your summer school requirements.
Thanks,

CHANGING SUBSCRIPTION-based INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
Information about changing from one subscription-based state-adopted
product to another was provided in the Instructions for Ordering
Instructional Materials for School Year 2010-11, sent to districts
on Friday, April 16. The information can be found on page 2,
second paragraph.
To summarize, the following steps should be followed if a district
wishes to change to a new subscription-based product.
• Do not order the product on a Subscription Renewal Requisition if
it is no longer going to be used in the district.
• The new subscription-based product should be requisitioned on an
EMAT Annual Continuing Adoption Requisition or an EMAT Supplemental
Requisition.
If no subscription-based products on the Subscription Renewal
Requisition will be used by the district, click the Submit To TEA
button and then place your telephone number where provided.
You are certifying that your district does not plan to order any
subscription-based materials that are found on the requisition.
CATE CHANGES FOR 2010:

Ann McGuffey’s PowerPoint)
In
July 2009, the State Board of Education (SBOE) adopted newly revised
Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for career and technical
education (CTE). The new TEKS reduce the number of courses from 607
to 194, update technical and academic content, increase rigor and
relevance, imbed college and career readiness standards, and align
with the nationally recognized 16 career clusters. Districts must
implement these new courses with the 2010-2011 school year.
Since new instructional material for the CTE courses will not be
available to districts for several years, the Texas Education Agency
is allowing districts to request CTE materials that were adopted in
2003 under Proclamation 2001 that correspond to the new courses.
Please use the attached list to determine whether currently-adopted
materials are suitable for use with the new courses. This
information will also be available at
