"Impact of New Legislation on Instructional Materials"

Two new laws enacted in 2009 will change the way that Texas schools adopt and order instructional materials.

The Instructional Materials and Education Technology Division of the Texas Education Agency is responsible for implementing those changes. TEA's John Lopez and Chuck Mayo unveiled the first look at these changes for textbook coordinators at TCAT's Annual Conference in December.

Now you can have a DVD copy of that presentation. Whether you're seeing it for the first time or reviewing it after attending the session, this video contains critical information you need to know - whether you're a textbook coordinator, curriculum specialist, education technology staffer or a superintendent.

TEA is refining the policies over the next year, but this DVD gives you the basics, so that when change comes, you'll be ready.

TCAT's mission: To train and assist
textbook professionals so they can help the students of Texas.

TCAT offers the only regular training for textbook coordinators in public school districts or open enrollment charter schools. Throughout the year, TCAT acts as a clearing house for coordinators who have questions or problems with their ordering, warehousing, delivery or inventory. Veteran coordinators offer their expertise and knowledge to help fellow TCAT members work smoothly with one goal in mind - getting the materials to the kids.
